Lightning Write

The sun was shining on the early summer morning.  The dew was glistening on the tall grass in the meadow.  The mountains above were

very majestic today.  The year was 1941, and Molly was outside playing in the mud.  “Molly, what are you eating?” asked her brother Jimmy.  She was chewing on something pale white.

Molly says “It’s a concoction that I made myself.  It’s white oleander.” Jimmy says to me, “Why would you eat something that would kill

you?”  She turned her head slowly to look at Jimmy’s face.  “it doesn’t matter Jimmy, I’ve got nothing to live for.”

Jimmy began to cry, realizing what she meant by that.  hea couldn’t believe his dear sister was trying to do the one thing that had so hushed

their parents the previous year.  He was sorry that his family didn’t see the point to living now that Grandpa was gone.  Grandpa had been the glue that held the family together.
