What I liked most about the reading was about Informative Workplace Reports. I was working on such a report for my manager. After reading this section I was able to completely redo my report with confidence that I am reporting professionally. I also started looking into chapter 4 which talks about doing research because that was the type of report that I was asked to do. The Informative (and Surprising) Article information was also nice to read but most of my focus was on the other section.

To be honest I really didn’t want to read that many pages from the book. I thought it was going to be very boring and waste precious time, but I actually learned a lot about writing a better paper. The hints on narrowing a topic down were very helpful. I must say I was surprised by the readings and I am glad I did it because it will help me write a better paper…..I hope.
I enjoyed the reading in the Allyn and Bacon book. It was pretty straight forward and easy to understand
I liked chapter 3 of our reading. It talked about how we all have different angles of vision on certain things in life. We have different things that have affected our vision on certain things such as our religion, where we grew up and what we have experienced.
I found the reading to be informative and useful. I found the parts on a thesis statement to be helpful. On page 215 of the A & B guide to writing it talked about a suprising thesis and a hook question. I found the DK handbook to be the most useful. From narrowing a topic page 31 to kinds of questions to guide our research page 35.

One of the things that I found interesting about the reading on pages 181-183 was a better way of taking notes. I always knew that researching a topic was hard enough but it makes so much more sense to take notes of what you researched. Not only writing down what you were reading and where you found it but writing a strong response afterwards summarizing in your own words what you thought the author was trying to say. I think by doing that and taking notes I will spend a lot less time trying to remember what I had found previously and will be able to focus more on formulating my thoughts from the articles.
reading was good. Presentations made it a lot more fun!
I really like reading about how to make a thesis statement hook the readers. I enjoyed this becasue it helped me write my thesis statement.
i like reading, but i enjoy presentations better they help understand the material.
