Here is the freewrite story that we did in class. I will space out the paragraphs to distinguish when the next writer starts.
The two of them stepped onto the balcony admiring the storm. “It hasn’t rained this hard in years,” Jessie said. The sheets of rain beat down…
One of them spoke to the other, “I wish we wouldn’t have stole all of those diamonds!” The other spoke…
“What do we do next? We already stole them. Should we bring them home?” They were asking eachother…
They both knew running was futile. They had a plan and now they were all washed up. But wait! Of course the route that took them into this mess…
Had the answer. They continued their journey west until they reached the ocean. There they set up camp and buried the diamonds deep in the earth. “I knew they were cursed!” Jessie said. “I know,” the other said. “I only wanted to steal them because I wanted you to have one on your finger.”
The end.
The Open Hill. Empty up and down. This was Jim’s favorite place to play. Perfect for a small Irish boy with no friends. He could do anything and be anyone as long as he stayed on this hill. It was is if the hill had some sort of magic pull with it. Jim spent all day going up and down the hill, especially in the winter when he could do belly flops to get down, then slowly serpentine as he made his way back up the snowy hill.
“Ah, just me and the little people,” Jim says.
The rainbow landed right where he stood, and everywhere he looked, the grass sparkled. The trees sang a song of old loves and lost wars. He would stay there for hours, if not days. There was nothing he wanted more. Except, maybe, the girl that say at the bottom of the hill, but she never moved. He ran all day through the rainbow and slid on the grass, but she never noticed him.
Now my autobiography is complete!
WHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Jim! You are too much! I love this story! It makes my heart want to travel all over the world.
The broken ladder mocked him. No matter how hard he tried the stubborn thing refused to work. “Now what am I to do,” he thought.
He struggeld with the old wooden ladder one more time then threw it to the ground. “Where is that axe I used to have,” he said. If the ladder wouldn’t work for him he
though he would just cut the tree down to get his ball. Someone heard his thorughts and got
another idea different then cutting down the tree. “Can one of you climb the three and get the ball? Whomever climbs will get a reward.”
There was a slight chuckle from Jimmy. He was the one that had thrown it up there in the first place. Then the idea struck him. What could get Jimmy up the tree? Well, Jimmy of course, so turning to Jimmey he….
There wasn’t time to finish it so I am going to leave it up to the reader to decide how it ends.
That’s usually how my thoughts come out too, as “thorughts”.
That is funny about Richard’s story. I was the second person to write. Where I was going with the axe was that the person in the story would next cut up the ladder, or something like that. I think it is neat how the next person, Parker, changed the viewpoint and cut down the tree instead. Funny!
I also like Henrik’s story. I know that Jim was in his group so I think it is interesting how his name got thrown into the story. When Garrett asked us to write about anything I happened to write about the rain that day. Henrik must have looked across from him saw Jim sitting there and threw his name in the story.
Gunnar was on his bicycle when his dad came out of the house and said “Gunnar, get in the car!”
“Why dad?”
“Don’t ask questions! We don’t have time!”
“Dad, why are you…so angry with me? I didn’t do it.”
“Henry down the street seen you go into the old lady’s house and come out with her pet.”
“Well she has enough of them, I didn’t think that she would miss just one!”
Gunnar had heard of Dog Stew and wanted to try it himself.
So Gunnar slurped down a big bucket of Dog Stew. But it turned out that it wasn’t Dog Stew. That’s why the old lady called dad. She didn’t know what it was either. So dad rushed Gunnar to the hospital.
I love this, it reminded me of reading when I was little. I also love comedy in storys so you definatly won me over.
This story cracks me up. It sounds like this is a small town and the kids get bored and try new things. I can honestly say that dog stew never entered my mind.
Tommy liked cheese and creackers but he hated pretzels because…
Pretzels gave him flatulence. It was the dandest thing because no other food did that. So Tommy one day went a filed trip to a pretzel…
Factory. Crap! he could already feel it coming on! He didn’t even have to eat one. The mere sight of the twisted and salty thing set him off…
His stomach started to rumble and people seemed to get furth from him. he though to himself ” Wait I didn’t pass any gas yet, why are people staying away from me?…
Apparently, pretzels or not, Tommy stunk so much because he forgot to take a shower that day. So Tommy endured a long, lonely, gassy, field trip counting the second until he could go home.
comment from Kristine Anderson
It’s interesting and funny to me how a whole group of students can take the story along the same line-whether everyone seems to think of smells, or the story has an intergallactic twist from more than one student.
This story reminds me of the movie Billy Madison. The field trip in that movie ended okay for the boy that peed his pants. But same concept, kids can be hard on each other without knowing the reason why someone is the way they are.

The baby chick ventured out into the outer chicken coop. It looked around and saw nothing but talons, feet and feathers. Then it was lifted off the ground with….a scream. The huge space ship nommed and borred, the lights growing brighter as Janis squacked and clucke terrified….It is not lawful in the galactic alliance that a chicken could be absorbed. Janis knew this and knew that there would be trouble. This ship didn’t care about the….consequences they were just so hungry. Even with how little the chick was they didn’t care. Who would have really noticed if it was gone, no one. The….mother hen noticed, however! She jumped up as high as a two-story building and grabbed her baby chick. “This chick is mine!” she shouted as she tugged mightily. The ship let go of the [baby chick, then the mother hen and her chick settled down to sleep].

Suzanne slowly walked up to the door, seriously contemplating as to whether she should go in. In her head she was analyzing the pros and cons of attending the English 2010 class that particular evening. Her head ached, her nerves twitched and all she should see was the polka dotted shirt on her best friend. ‘Suz get in here.’ Thank goodness she had decided to take this class during the summer. Lisa was a genius and Suzanne was not so smart. She had to take this class in the summer to avoid the ridicule she often felt from other students. She only passed the 1010 class because her aunt had baked the professor her famous apple and rhubarb pie. This was a huge deal and she just wanted the next six classes to hurry up and be over. Then she would never have to take an English class ever again.
I like the apple and rhubarb pie, ha.
It was dark outside. The sky was covered by an envelope of clouds. Kaily was supposed to go on a horseback ride with Nancy, but Nancy was nowhere to be found. Tonight was the anniversary of the tower (?) on Garfield Street. Kaily suspected that Nancy had ditched her for dinner with Chris. So, Kaily decided to go to the cemetary by herself. It seemed like a safer place then Garfield Street tonight. On her way to the cemetary she encountered an old man who asked her riddle after riddle before she could get inside the cemetary. Oddly, she did not question the old man’s presence, but she answered every question and soon found herself walking into the cemetary. Once inside she saw Nancy scared as a…That’s as far as we got!
spooky. :
Nice story, very detailed and describtive.
It had begun the mindless chatter that signaled the beginning. My mind raced as the music of the power that would move me along rang out. I entered out onto the stage. The sound of the drums was pounding in my ears, in tune with my heart. It was the opening night of Tarzan and here I was Jane. The lead role was waiting for me to act my heart out. I started out onto the stage for my opening scene. All of a sudden I freeze in total terror. No one had told me that I would be acting on stage with live gorillas! I had never seen one except in the zoo. What was I to do? At that moment I decided that there were two ways this could go. Either I would “break a leg” or I would fall flat on my face. Whichever happened this was going to hurt. And then all my fear faded away and I was face to face with the most beautiful man any woman had ever laid eyes on. Tommy Pierce!
Here is the group writing assignment.
