Garrett Winn's Writing Classes for UVU
Reading for 1/28
January 27th, 2010 by Garrett in Announcements, Reading ||

I forgot to post this last night, but here is where you can comment on the reading for Thursday.

The reading covers information about doing peer reviews and a review (hopefully) of the strong response paper you did in 1010.

For class, make sure to bring your filled out peer review sheets and a printout of your source (or a hard copy version). We will use the text of the source in class.

See you then!

I like how the AB talks about why you should revise your papers so extensively. Makes sense, nobody gets it right the first time.

This is something that i agree very much with. I’m not the best a doing this but this class is helping me to want to revise more and is also helping me to look outside the box. So i agree with this comment and with the book about revising many times to get a better end product.

I have a question on the peer review stuff, are we suppose to email our reviews back to the person we reviewed or do they get the paper you gave us? I thought you kept the review paper.

I think you can either email or print it out and bring it to class. The green paper you need to bring filled out to class.

I thought that the reading was helpfull because I already thought i was a good reviewer but as it turns out my review skills only scratch the surface. I like the suggestion of throwing out your draft and starting over, as strange as it may sound I’ve never thought to do this for fear of losing old ideas, but as it turns out when you’ve writen a draft you basically know what it was you were writing and you learn more about your topic.
