Make sure to get all your edits in so that you can turn in the Teacher Draft of the Proposal/Annotated Bibliography. The word count for this is for both together. Make sure to bring your peer review sheets to class to turn in. Other than that, you’ll need to email me the following:

Cover Letter document.

Teacher Review Sheet (download it from this blog, rename it according to class standards, then attach it).

PDFs (or Word documents) of your sources (the actual text of the source, not the citation for it).

Teacher draft with the peer draft after it.

There is reading due for class from AB (we are now caught up again, so check your syllabus for the assignment pages).

You will also need to type out your thesis, print it, and bring it to class with you.

Class for March 9th

We have reading in AB and DK due for class. This gets us caught up on the reading (except for the Graphics and Data lesson).

You also need to have your peer reviews done before class.

Based on what I’m seeing in the Analysis and Synthesis papers, I am also asking everyone to read through the 2 sources that the A student used for their Analysis and Synthesis paper (see Blackboard for the sources). We’ll go over these in detail in class and build an analysis and synthesis paper together so that you all will know how to revise your papers (yes, they are all pretty much needing to be revised).

Well, this is a little late (I seem to be getting further behind as the semester goes – I’ll work on that).

In any case, as I said in class, you have the reading about Classical Arguments due today.

You also should have your peer draft of the Proposal/Annotated Bibliography ready to go.

This Tuesday we are talking about Annotated Bibliographies in more detail.

I will probably also finish up our discussion of Logos.

You need to email me your Review of Literature before class starts on Tuesday for homework.

You should also have your Peer Draft ready to go out, as we will be getting into peer review groups for this.
(Oops, that won’t be until Thursday.)

Class for Feb. 26th

As I said in class, there is no reading due for class (although I recommend reading the student examples on BlackBoard for the Review of Literature and the portfolio drafts of the papers).

Your review of literature assignment is not due until next Tuesday.

Also, please bring the junk mail with you to class again. We will definitely get to it on Thursday.

Finally, make sure to get your team free writing typed up and posted to the blog (on the appropriate post) to get credit for it.

Class for Feb. 23

I apologize for the late notice on this – my internet went down over the weekend. Of course, this is all in the syllabus, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

On Tuesday, we are going to be talking about Reviews of Literature and Categorizing. These are both important for the Proposal part of the next assignment.

For reading, I suggest you look at the student examples on Blackboard.

Please bring 2 items of junk mail with you to class. This junk mail can either be something mailed to you via the post office, or it can be email spam.

You also need to bring your Peer Review Sheets to turn in.

Finally, your teacher draft of the Analysis and Synthesis paper is due by midnight Tuesday. Make sure you send the following:

PDFs (or Word documents) that contain the text of your sources for this paper.

The Analysis and Synthesis_Teacher Review Sheet (make sure to rename it as discussed in class)

Your teacher draft of the paper (the peer draft should also be included in the same file, at the end of the file)

A cover letter that tells how and what you want me to comment on; as well as whose papers you peer reviewed, who you sent your peer reviews to, and responding to your peer reviewers’ comments and suggestions (note that this is slightly different than last time)

Class for Feb. 18

There is a little bit of reading for Thursday. It is about annotated bibliographies. Yes, that’s right, we are starting the 3rd paper already!

Also make sure to get your peer reviews done and bring the peer review sheets with you to class.

Class for Feb. 16

For Tuesday, review the chapters in Allyn and Bacon and the DK Handbook that tell you all about APA style and formatting.

I’d recommend focusing especially well on the first couple pages of each one as they give general rules and stuff there.

Also, make sure to be ready to send out your peer reviews after class. You’ll get into peer review groups (different ones than before) during class.
